During my time at Vox magazine in the summer of 2014, one of my main jobs was pitching news articles that would be interesting for residents in a Midwestern college town. Presentation and style were always crucial, especially when the story took place far away.
In this case, a Supreme Court decision prompted a light-hearted piece full of college-level jabs. We decided to make it look like a real text conversation, and I worked closely with one of our designers throughout production to make sure the product reflected the pitch.
Here’s what we came up with:
